Wine Takes Minor Performance Hit Running Windows Programs On Linux With KPTI
In the "CPU tests" part of 3DMark 05, the impact of KPTI was more noticeable than the pure "graphics" tests.
With PCMark for measuring the broader system performance, using Linux 4.15 with KPTI enabled showed about a 5~6% drop in performance.
While the HDD benchmark of PCMark showed about a 10% drop in performance with KPTI. This isn't too surprising though since native Linux I/O performance has tended to be where most of the performance loss comes from with this new kernel security feature.
That's the latest KPTI tests for now... Still experimenting with various systems and benchmarks in the test lab.
