Switching to the synthetic disk tests provided IOzone, the Intel X25-E Extreme SSD really began to shine. The 2GB write performance with IOzone on the Seagate 7200.2 was 52MB/s but 218MB/s for the solid-state drive. When upping the write size to 4GB, the Seagate drive wrote at 51MB/s while the Intel drive was at 206MB/s.

The 4GB read performance with IOzone was also very much in favor of the Serial ATA 2.0 SSD. The Seagate 7200.2 had an average read speed of 133MB/s while the X25-E was at 377MB/s!
