With the Darktable RAW photography software package the Core i7 1165G7 was dancing with Renoir - sometimes faster but in other scenes just offering comparable performance in this real-world workload.

Tiger Lake does bring hardware-accelerated AV1 video decoding with Gen12 graphics but for those relying on multimedia software still using the likes of dav1d for AV1 decoding rather than the Video Acceleration API (VA-API) for the new hardware decode, from Ice Lake to Tiger Lake was 20% uplift to put the decode performance comparable to the Ryzen 5 4500U.

When running Intel's open-source Embree ray-tracing kernel tests the Tiger Lake performance was comparable to the Ryzen 5 4500U or jumping ahead of the Ryzen 7 4700U when using Intel's optimized ISPC compiler.
