While in C-Ray it's primarily limited by thread count, which is what allows the Ryzen 7 CPUs to run so much better.

The OpenSSL performance of the Core i5 8400 is able to match the Ryzen 7 1700 rig.

In the Xsbench OpenMP benchmark, the i5-8400 is in line with the i7-7700K that is just slightly behind the Ryzen 7 1700 performance level.

Intel CPUs continue to dominate with FFmpeg due to their architecture advantages.
