Intel Core Ultra 7 155H Meteor Lake vs. AMD Ryzen 7 7840U On Linux In 300+ CPU Benchmarks
First up were a number of Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome web browser benchmarks. In these tests the AMD Ryzen 7 7840U was near consistently delivering better performance than the new Core Ultra 7 155H Meteor Lake laptop.
To the benefit of the Meteor Lake laptop, the SoC power was on average around 1 Watt lower than the Ryzen 7 7840U, but the Meteor Lake laptop did have a higher peak power during WebAssembly for example at 42 vs. 35 Watt.
It was under both Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox that the Meteor Lake SoC tended to have a 1~2 Watt lower power consumption on average but notably higher peak power usage.
With the WireGuard open-source VPN tunnel software that is commonly used on the Linux desktop, the Core Ultra 7 155H did slightly outperform the Ryzen 7 7840U but in this case the Ryzen 7 7840U was operating more power efficient.
