Motherboard Layout:

With AMD's 780G Chipset being designed for HTPC (Home Theater PCs) and advanced video playback capabilities (among other uses) many vendors have designed their motherboards around a micro ATX footprint, but with the ECS A780GM-A v1.0 BLACK being a standard ATX motherboard it immediately rules it out of some applications. However, as long as you know the ATX chassis requirement before hand, it shouldn't pose much of a problem. In the upper right hand corner of the A780GM-A are four DDR2 memory slots. The motherboard supports DDR2-1066/800/667 MHz memory, but the dual-channel DDR2-1066MHz support depends upon the Intel CPU being used. Next to the memory slots are the 24-pin power connector, one FDD connector, and one IDE connector.

Further down on this motherboard is the CMOS battery, five Serial ATA 2.0 ports, and three USB 2.0 headers. Covered up by a very small passive heatsink is the southbridge, which happens to be the AMD SB700. The AMD SB700 Chipset supports up to six Serial ATA 2.0 ports with RAID 0/1/10 support, eSATA, 14 USB ports (with all but two of them being USB 2.0), infrared receiver/transmitter port, DASH 1.0, and other improvements since the SB600 series.
