When conducting random IO reads with the Flexible I/O Tester, the Linux 3.18-rc1 kernel is at nearly the same performance as Linux 3.10, after having gone through many performance along the way after regressing between Linux 3.10 and 3.11 and then again between Linux 3.13 and 3.14.

With random writes the numbers are still a bit shaky but the performance seems to be better off with the modern kernels than where it was in the past, sans the performance dropping temporarily in Linux 3.16.

With sequential writes in FIO, the performance has improved greatly with Linux 3.13 and newer compared.
