Apple 2013 Haswell MacBook Air Performance
Overall, the performance of the 2013 MacBook Air with Intel Core i5 "Haswell" processor is in line with expectations compared to the MacBook Pros and Mac Mini that are at Phoronix. The only real disappointment with the Apple MD711LL/A MacBook Air testing to date has been the low OpenGL performance out of Haswell (with HD 3000 Sandy Bridge graphics even being faster for some games), but hopefully there will be driver performance improvements coming with OS X Mavericks. OS X Mavericks preview benchmarks will be forthcoming on Phoronix.
The 2013 MacBook Air hardware is especially great when considering its very long battery life (under OS X) and very lightweight and portable yet well-built design. Stay tuned for further MacBook Air benchmarks once the Linux support is in decent shape. For now, additional MacBook Air testing (including performance-per-Watt data) can be found through OpenBenchmarking.org.
