AMD Radeon Gallium3D Catches Up To Catalyst For Some Linux Games

Furmark continues to be torturous to the open-source driver stack while in GpuTest's Plot3D the performance is running quite close to the Catalyst driver on Mesa 10.1-devel.

Overall, these numbers are quite good for the open-source R600 Gallium3D driver, but again this is for hardware that's already been on the market for several years. With the Radeon HD 7000 series graphics cards and newer on the RadeonSI Gallium3D driver, yesterday's results showed the performance is improving but still has a long ways to go. Users of the open-source Radeon Linux graphics driver are also still waiting on open-source OpenCL support to be in a good, working manner, OpenGL 4.x support, and a variety of other smaller work items found in Catalyst but not in the open-source driver.
