AMD APU vs. Radeon GPU Open-Source Comparison

Earlier this month I ran some benchmarks showing that with the very latest open-source AMD Linux graphics driver code, the AMD APU Gallium3D performance can be ~80%+ the speed of Catalyst, the notorious Linux binary graphics driver. For end-users curious what the AMD A10-6800K "Richland" APU performance is comparable to when it comes to discrete Radeon graphics cards with the R600 Gallium3D driver, here's some weekend comparison benchmarks.

The tests today are of the overclocked AMD A10-6800K running with the integrated Radeon HD 8670D graphics and then compared to the Radeon HD 4670, HD 4830, HD 5830, HD 6450, HD 6770, and HD 6950 graphics cards. This provides a nice spectrum of Radeon PCI-E GPUs powered by the R600g driver to see where the Richland APU runs in contrast.

The software stack used throughout all of the benchmarking was Ubuntu 13.10 x86_64 with the Linux 3.13 Git kernel, Mesa 10.1-devel Git from the Oibaf PPA, xf86-video-ati 7.2.99, and the Unity 7.1.2 desktop.
