Himeno is an AVX-heavy workload and unfortunately doesn't perform very well on AMD CPUs with all of the tested AMD CPUs losing out to Intel.

With the Smallpt multi-threaded path-tracer, the numbers again are nice for these entry-level Zen CPUs. In this test the Ryzen 3 1300X was almost striking the FX-8370E eight-core performance level.

With the FLAC audio encoding test is our first look at the Ryzen 3 single-threaded performance. The Ryzen 3 1200 and 1300X come out ahead of the Ryzen 5 1400, due to that four core / eight thread CPU having just a 3.2GHz base frequency with 3.4GHz turbo. Overall the Ryzen 3 single-threaded performance is good, still certainly much better than the Bulldozer days, but not quite hitting the performance of the newer Intel Skylake and Kabylake CPUs. The Core i3 7100 here even beats out the Ryzen 7 for this single-threaded test.

LAME MP3 encoding is another practical single-threaded test. Again, the Ryzen 3 CPUs work out well and at least here the 1300X does beat out Intel's Core i3 7100, but hopefully with the second-generation Zen CPUs we will see better single-threaded capabilities.
