EXT4, Btrfs, XFS & F2FS On Linux 4.6 Through 4.9

For those curious how various Linux file-systems have evolved since Linux 4.6, here are some fresh benchmarks of the Btrfs, EXT4, F2FS, and XFS file-systems being tested on Linux 4.6 vs. 4.7 vs. 4.8 vs. 4.9 with a solid-state drive for looking at any performance changes.

A single Toshiba TR150 was used for testing each of the file-systems on the past four stable kernel releases. All tests happened from a Core i7 6800K + MSI X99A WORKSTATION system. Ubuntu 16.10 x86_64 was running on the system while testing Linux 4.6, 4.7, 4.8, and 4.9 Git as of last week. Each time the disk was freshly formatted to the desired file-system and mounted with the default mount options.

All of these Linux file-system benchmarks were carried out in a fully-automated and reproducible manner using the open-source Phoronix Test Suite benchmarking software.
