Unlike some manufacturers who keep all of their eggs in a single basket, Thermaltake is well known by enthusiasts as they routinely deliver new products in almost all areas imaginable for computer hardware. In fact, their products range from 1U and 2U critical server cooling solutions to a 5.25" bay 03 Air Cleaner. Not having reviewed any Thermaltake external enclosures in well over a year, since the launch of their SilverRiver line-up, we have decided to take another look at their USB enclosure offerings and what we have our hands on today is the Muse 5.25" (A2293) device. Will this classy aluminum enclosure be able to perform as well as it looks?

Arriving at our location was the Thermaltake Muse 5.25" that came beautifully dressed inside of an eventful cardboard packaging, which displayed various views of the device as well as its features. Although the device is not incredibly big, a plastic carrying handle accompanies the top of the container. In addition to the 5.25" design we are taking a look at today, Thermaltake also manufacturers 2.5" and 3.5" models for use with hard drives as well as offering a Muse eSATA series for 3.5" SATA drives. Opening up the packaging, we found all of the components to be safely packaged with all of the contents being housed inside of individual plastic bags while the 120V power supply had its own cardboard container. The contents consisted of the Muse 5.25" drive with all mounting hardware already being inside of the enclosure, power supply, USB cable, Muse driver & manual CD, and finally a printed Thermaltake user's manual. In addition to 5.25" optical drive support is compatibility with 3.5" IDE hard drives.
