With the growing number of USB and Firewire devices available in the market today, the demand for USB and Firewire ports have also grown. Modern motherboards can often handle more than eight USB and/or Firewire ports. But as you know, most of the USB/Firewire devices out there are portable devices. We have all had to reach behind the computer to plug and unplug these devices. Nowadays, the percentage of computers with front ports have increased dramatically and it is much easier for us to access USB, Firewire, audio ports, etc... However, to those who do not have the convenience of front ports, or just simply need more, we would like to introduce the FrontX.

Inside the FrontX package, we found a high quality plastic casing and three long cables for USB, Firewire, and Speakers/Microphone. Everything was shipped in a nicely padded envelope and so everything arrived in perfect condition from Malaysia. The FrontX is currently available in black, gray, and ivory colors. Our review sample was the ivory model.

Examination:

Everything was constructed out of very high quality materials. The casing was constructed out of durable plastic. We tried bending and twisting the spacer pieces to test the strength of the material and it would not break or warp under moderate stress. The door also seemed very sturdy and there shouldn’t be any problems with it falling off or breaking. This door keeps all of the ports neatly concealed when your computer isn't in use. The ports and cables also seemed to be of very high quality. FrontX provided us with three ports: dual USB Type A Internal (CPX108-2), IEEE 1394 Internal (CPX105-2), and Headphone & Mic Internal (CPX110).
