For some of the I/O workloads, Ubuntu 20.04 LTS is delivering better performance particularly compared to 18.04 LTS.

For many of the heavy computational benchmarks, it's particularly noteworthy on the Ryzen 9 3900X when moving from 18.04 LTS to 20.04. Given Ubuntu 20.04 LTS and 19.10 are both using the GCC 9.3 compiler, the performance difference there is less interesting than if you are a long-term support user with the shift from GCC 7 to GCC 9 among other updated components in the GNU toolchain and other packages.
