For the very basic OpenArena 0.8.5 game release, the R9 290 and R7 370 graphics cards were noticeably faster when DRI3 was enabled. However, for the older Radeon HD 6870 there wasn't much of an impact.

With the more demanding OpenArena 0.8.8 release, the performance benefit of DRI3 was significantly reduced.

When running the modern Tesseract open-source game, there was virtually no different between Direct Rendering Infrastructure versions two and three.

Likewise, with the very demanding Unigine Valley tech demo, no performance difference either.
