It was nearly five years ago that we tested the first Corsair Flash Voyager that offered just 512MB of memory, but at the time it was quite a modest amount of storage for a USB 2.0 flash drive. The Flash Voyager was unique though from the other flash drives on the market in the respect that it was waterproof and far more durable than any other flash drive. As time has passed, more manufacturers have adopted designs similar to that of the Flash Voyager. The capacity of flash drives has also increased and we have tested out the 4GB, 8GB, and 16GB versions of the Flash Voyager and their newer and faster Flash Voyager GT series too. We have also reviewed other innovative Corsair flash memory products like their Flash PadLock and we happened to be the first publication to deliver a review of the Corsair Flash Survivor GT. Now though we are back with the Corsair Flash Survivor GT as we test out one of their newer versions with a 32GB capacity.

Corsair's Flash Voyager GT family now consists of USB 2.0 products ranging in size from 16GB to 128GB with there being the 32GB and 64GB models in the middle. The non-GT Flash Voyager family fills in the lower-end with 4GB and 8GB capacities while still offering some larger models too up to 64GB in size, which costs less than the Flash Voyager GT but will not read or write nearly as fast. The Corsair Flash Voyager GT 32GB (CMFUSB-32GBGT) is rated for 30MB/s reads and 16MB/s writes. While there is not much to a USB flash drive and we have never ran into Linux compatibility problems with such a device, Corsair Memory is one of the companies that does advertise Linux support for their Flash Voyager products along with Mac OS X and Windows support. The CMFUSB-32GBGT was a sample submitted by Corsair Memory for testing at Phoronix.

The Flash Voyager GT 32GB is backed by a ten-year parts and labor warranty, which is among the best we have found for flash drive guarantees. The CMFUSB-32GBGT is constructed just like the other Flash Voyager GT products we have reviewed over the years with its rugged-ized rubber housing that makes it water resistant, shockproof, and indestructible compared to the cheaper USB flash drives on the market. Included with the 32GB Flash Voyager GT is a USB extension cable and a Corsair lanyard. The flash drive itself is red and black while the Flash Voyager GT logo has some yellow to it and on the opposite side of the flash drive is Corsair's web-site address. About the only problem that we have ever ran into with this flash drive's design is the rubber cap, which simply rests on the head of the USB 2.0 plug. This rubber cap is quite small and could be easily lost, albeit we have never actually run into this problem of losing the cap.
