The more recent versions of Ubuntu Linux can run Unigine Tropics fine.

Like some of the other Linux games tested, the R600g performance on the HD 6870 plateaued around Ubuntu 14.04 with no major performance changes since then.

Xonotic, one of the most interesting open-source games from a technical point of view, is performing the best with the latest releases of Ubuntu Linux with the newer kernel and Mesa code. However, there's no breakthrough performance gains for R600g recently with most of the AMD open-source development efforts being focused on the modern RadeonSI Gallium3D driver for GCN GPUs.
