Ubuntu 14.10 Offers AMD Radeon Driver Performance Improvements
For both old and new graphics cards are some performance improvements to find with the demanding Furmark stress benchmark.
For the rather simple triangle benchmark, Ubuntu 14.10 offers better performance over Ubuntu 14.04 LTS and all six graphics cards were also made faster when upgrading to the Oibaf PPA and Linux 3.17.
Overall, there's performance improvements to find for especially newer AMD GPUs when upgrading to Ubuntu 14.10 from Ubuntu 14.04. However, there's even more frames to be experienced if willing to enable the Oibaf PPA (or otherwise manually obtaining Mesa Git) and pulling down the latest stable Linux kernel release.
