Raspberry Pi 5 Benchmarks: Significantly Better Performance, Improved I/O
For getting an idea of the Raspberry Pi 5 performance, here are some initial benchmarks comparing it to the Raspberry Pi 4 as well as the Orange Pi 5. The Orange Pi 5 is an 8-core Arm single board computer using the Rockchip RK3588S that features four Cortex-A76 cores plus four Cortex-A55 cores. Like the Raspberry Pi 5, the four A76 cores on the Orange Pi 5 can clock up to 2.4GHz but the Orange Pi additionally has the four "little" A55 cores too. Both the Orange Pi 5 and Raspberry Pi 5 were tested with 8GB of LPDDR4X memory, microSD storage, and have other similar features like Gigabit Ethernet, 4K display support, USB 3.0, etc.
As expected, the Raspberry Pi 5 is a big upgrade over the Raspberry Pi 4.
In some cases the Orange Pi 5 with its octa-core big.LITTLE design is still faster, but at least with the Raspberry Pi 5 there is more competition.
