The old OpenArena 0.8.5 ioquake3 game is one of the least demanding OpenGL Linux games available. At the very low resolution of 640 x 480, LLVMpipe was able to average churning out 52 FPS while at 1920 x 1080 it was putting out a 23 FPS average.

With the newer OpenArena 0.8.8 that makes use of GLSL shaders and other modern GL rendering features, the performance was much worse. At 640 x 480, the open-source software rasterizer leveraging LLVM was running at just 20.8 FPS while at 1920 x 1080 it averaged out at 6.8 FPS.

World of Padman, another lightweight ioquake3 game, began at 44 FPS at the lowest resolution while at the HD resolution it was running just shy of 23 FPS.
