When kicking things off with the basic OpenArena game, the HD 6870 performance saw the same frame-rates but the newer GCN hardware saw measurable performance gains. The HD 7850 was up by 5%, the HD 7850 up by 13%, and the R9 270X up by 8%.

Reaction Quake 3 saw much smaller performance gains out of the DRM changes for the Linux 3.16 kernel.

With Unigine Sanctuary the performance improvements out of the Linux 3.16 Radeon DRM were very significant for the HD 7000 series hardware and newer. The Radeon HD 7850 was up by 21%, the HD 7950 up by 27%, and the R9 270X up by 27% as well.
