Displays with a resolution less than 1280 x 1024 are quickly fading away, fortunately.

Compiz / Compiz Fusion continues to be the most popular option when it comes to those that use a compositing manager for their desktop, but KWin is obviously popular with KDE4 users. There is already a small chunk of respondents using GNOME Shell / Mutter, which will officially premiere in the first half of next year with the release of GNOME 3.0. Many users though do not use a compositing manager at all.
