When kicking things off with Doom 3, the Intel Iris Pro graphics performance on the System76 Galago UltraPro more than doubles when moving from Ubuntu 13.04 stock to using Mesa 9.3-devel with the Linux 3.11/3.12 kernel. The upgraded Mesa yields the largest improvement in OpenGL performance while the newer kernel also presents a noticeable increase in frame-rate. Interestingly though is that the Linux 3.12 kernel doesn't improve the Iris Pro graphics any further even though it enables the eLLC cache.

The OpenArena game performance on Ubuntu Linux also more than doubles when upgrading to the latest Mesa development code and Linux kernel. Surprisingly though, we still don't see any greater performance out of Iris Pro on the Linux 3.12 kernel over Linux 3.11.
