Windows 11 vs. Ubuntu Linux Performance On The Intel Core Ultra 7 Meteor Lake

With the OpenJDK Java performance on each operating system, it was a toss-up between Windows 11 and Ubuntu Linux on this Intel Meteor Lake laptop. In some of these Java benchmarks Windows 11 was faster while in other cases Ubuntu came out ahead. This may be due to different OS scheduler behavior or other attributes.

WebP Image Encode benchmark with settings of Encode Settings: Default. Ubuntu 23.10 + Linux 6.7 was the fastest.
WebP Image Encode benchmark with settings of Encode Settings: Quality 100. Ubuntu 23.10 + Linux 6.7 was the fastest.
WebP Image Encode benchmark with settings of Encode Settings: Quality 100, Highest Compression. Ubuntu 23.10 + Linux 6.7 was the fastest.

With the multi-threaded WebP image encode performance there was a slight lead with the Ubuntu results over Windows 11.

Crafty benchmark with settings of Elapsed Time. Ubuntu 23.10 + Linux 6.7 was the fastest.
TSCP benchmark with settings of AI Chess Performance. Ubuntu 23.10 + Linux 6.7 was the fastest.
Stockfish benchmark with settings of Total Time. Ubuntu 23.10 + Linux 6.7 was the fastest.
asmFish benchmark with settings of 1024 Hash Memory, 26 Depth. Ubuntu 23.10 + Linux 6.7 was the fastest.

With several multi-threaded chess benchmarks, Ubuntu Linux performance came out slightly ahead of the pre-loaded Windows 11.
