For those wondering about the performance potential of the HP ZBook Studio G7, here are a number of different benchmarks against other laptops on hand: the Dell XPS with Core i7 1165G7 Tiger Lake processor, the Dell XPS with Core i7 1065G7 Ice Lake processor, the Kubuntu Focus with Core i7 9750H, the Dell XPS with Core i7 8565U Whiskey Lake, and a Lenovo IdeaPad for Ryzen 5 4500U. The comparison is obviously limited by what we had on hand as of testing time for testing with the latest Linux distributions / software support at the time and often having to purchase laptops for Linux testing given the general lack of broad industry interest in Linux laptops. Tests were done uniformally on Ubuntu 20.10 throughout to match the latest state of Linux for all of these devices.

While it shouldn't come as a surprise given the other laptop CPUs under test, the HP ZBook Studio G7 tended to dominate across the wide range of real-world benchmarks...

For some single-threaded workloads like the QuantLib quantitative financing benchmark, the Core i7 1165G7 Tiger Lake performance understandably comes out ahead.
