Now having compared the graphics driver performance between Microsoft Windows 7 and Ubuntu 12.04 Linux for the NVIDIA driver with the GeForce GTX 680 and the multi-platform Intel performance for Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge, here's a look at the AMD Catalyst driver performance with the Radeon HD 7950 graphics card when running between Windows 7 and Ubuntu Linux.

This AMD Radeon HD 7950 testing under Linux and Windows with the respective Catalyst driver was done in a similar manner to the Intel and NVIDIA cross-operating-system benchmarks. The testing was also done from the same hardware test-bed (Intel Core i7 3770K Ivy Bridge) and configuration to maintain comparable results. In fact, the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 "Kepler" results are also being re-printed in this article again for comparison in looking at the difference between the competing graphics cards under the two popular operating systems. The AMD Catalyst 12.4 driver for each operating system was used for testing. Each operating system desktop / driver settings were also left at their defaults.
