As mentioned before the Mesa releases prior to Mesa 9.1 are faster for the Nexuiz game since it tries to use MSAA by default but anti-aliasing wasn't supported until Mesa 9.1, which leads to better image quality but at the cost of reduced performance. What we're looking at though in these results is the Mesa 9.1 to Mesa 9.2 performance and there we see a very nice improvement. The R300g performance has about doubled for the Radeon X1800XL and X1950PRO graphics cards with the latest Mesa release.

When running the basic OpenArena 0.8.5 game, the X1800XL performance regresses on Mesa 9.2 by a measurable percent while the X1950PRO performance is level.

With the newer OpenArena 0.8.8 game we also see the performance pull back slightly on Mesa 9.2. This time, both the X1800XL and X1950PRO graphics cards were slower on Mesa 9.2 and remain slow on Mesa Git (9.3-devel) compared to Mesa 9.1.6.
