Today we have yet another successful launch of new ATI Linux display drivers. While the official changes may not be as hopeful as some users were anticipating this month, it would generally be wise to make this upgrade. From our tests, using a Mobility Radeon X300 64MB, the changes were minimal; however, there was no apparent signs of any definitive performance gains or losses. For ATI Linux users looking to acquire these drivers, they are available from ATI's website (or will be available shortly). To reiterate, some of the change include OpenGL 2.0 extension compliance, FSAA support on non-R200 cards, and various X800/850 support improvements. We are very hopeful at this point in ATI pushing out some incredibly promising drivers this spring, and as always, we will be here to document these changes. This week, and next week, will also be home to several other Linux-based hardware and software releases, which we will be publishing immediately as they occur during CeBIT 2006.
