As it is very evident from all of our results, throughout the 1.0-7XXX Linux driver series the performance had been neck-and-neck with no major improvements noticeable on the GeForce 6600GT system we utilized for the comparison. Of course, it was noticable where the system was lacking and the bottleneck occuring. However, once the 1.0-8XXX drivers are available, there should be a much greater difference in graphics performance and of course we'll report our results once the drivers are released later this month. It still seems as if some of the information shared in our 1.0-8XXX preview several weeks ago, remains on tap for the initial Linux release, and they are working hard to make an incredibly solid release that will hopefully address some of the issues Linux users are facing with NVIDIA's proprietary drivers.
