The Radeon R9 290 was running decent with the Catalyst 14.1 Beta Linux graphics driver and better than it had been on earlier GPU drivers for this "Hawaii" graphics processor. These Unigine Heaven performance results are in line with expectations. Will the R9 290 be more competitive now against the GeForce GPUs and NVIDIA's great Linux graphics driver?
