Ozone-Wayland Continues Rising High
The Ozone-Wayland sub-project for Google Chromium support on the next-generation Linux display server continues to be pushed ahead with improved and new features by Intel open-source developers.
Ozone-Wayland is the port of the underlying Chrome/Chromium code to Wayland that handles all input and window layer abstraction for the open-source web-browser and ChromeOS. By supporting Ozone, Chrome and other Google-backed software can seamlessly transition to Wayland environments besides X11 and other supported windowing systems / display servers.
Since the public announcement months ago and the first official release in November, development continues quite frequently thanks to the backing of Intel's Open-Source Technology Center.
Those really curious about Ozone-Wayland can visit the 01.org GitHub repository. Among the recent advancements include continued updating against Chromium Git, initial Screen support, support for querying all open windows, focus changes, input changes, and many other small improvements.
