Open-Source Freedreno Graphics Driver Is Now Faster
The open-source Freedreno graphics driver for providing reverse-engineered Qualcomm Adreno GPU support is now faster for handling OpenGL ES games.
Rob Clark, the main developer behind this community-based reverse-engineering project for Qualcomm graphics hardware, wrote about faster performance for the driver via his blog.
With now having the Freedreno/Snapdragon KMS driver merged for the Linux 3.12 kernel, Rob has been working on tuning the entire driver stack and making improvements from proper mipmaps/cubemaps support to addressing GU lockups to expanding the selection of games that work with the driver.
