After Many Delays, Fedora 18 Is Finally Ready To Ship

Fedora 18 was originally supposed to ship in early November of 2012 but was delayed eight times in the process that ultimately pushed the release back by two months. At today's Go/No-Go meeting, it was decided that Fedora 18 is finally ready to ship next week on 15 January.
"It was agreed that RC3 is GOLD for now, with possibility to raise the status of RC4 to be the final release based on outcome of supplemental testing due to the late acceptance of bug #810040." As such, Fedora 18 RC4 was made available today for last minute testing.
Fedora 18 is codenamed "Spherical Cow" and offers a number of original and new Linux features. Expect Fedora 18 benchmarks on Phoronix once the gold release is shipped next week.
Fedora 19, a.k.a. Schrödinger's Cat, should have a short release cycle with the planned release expected just about four months later by late May.
