With the open-source Nexuiz first person shooter, the Radeon HD 4870 wound up in front but was just 1 FPS faster. The FireGL V8600 had 75.08 frames per second while the FirePro V8700 was at 76.67 FPS and the ATI Radeon HD 4870 512MB had an average frame-rate of 77.91.

In our final quantitative performance test was Lightsmark. With Lightsmark 2008, the FirePro V8700 was 70% faster than the FireGL V8600! The Radeon HD 4870 though was 5% faster than the workstation V8700.
