To start off the series of graphics benchmarking we have the Unreal Tournament 2003 (2206) Demo. The focus of this benchmark is for in game audio testing. In the Unreal Tournament 2003 bot-match dm-asbestos, the benchmark was run with the audio enabled and then disabled. ALSA v1.0.6 was used with the onboard AC97 audio. Unreal Tournament 2003 ran at 1280 x 1024 with highest details. Each test ran for 77 seconds and 12 bots were used in the matches.

To end off the gaming benchmarks for the Tomcat K8E, as this motherboard is more designed as for servers/workstations, we adjourn with some DOOM3 (1.1.1286) action. For this benchmarking, the standard time demo 1 was used. The video settings were set at Ultra quality with a resolution of 1280 x 1024.

Having the gaming benchmarks out of the way, we next have up a simple OpenGL benchmark, glxgears. We ran the gears benchmark for 20 seconds, and taking an average of the four interval readings. Keep in mind, glxgears doesn’t reflect real world results.

Moving onto the performance of the onboard SATA, we have the traditional hdparm testing (hdparm -t /dev/sda). This benchmark was run three times, and the average of the three was used.
