With the Golang benchmarks, first up was the JSON parsing sub-test. Windows Server 2019 was performing very well and in fact almost tied with openSUSE Tumbleweed as the fastest. Windows Server 2019 WSL was much slower though did still come in ahead of Fedora Server 29. FreeBSD 12's Golang performance remains much slower than the Linux distributions.

But when firing up the Golang build test, this is one area where Windows 10 has performed very slow and it's that way with Windows Server 2019 as well.

Rounding out these basic Golang benchmarks with the garbage collection performance, this is one test where Windows Server 2019 did secure a first place finish while using WSL took another noticeable performance hit but not nearly as slow as FreeBSD Go performance.

With the Java-based DaCapo benchmarks, Windows Server was quite slow while FreeBSD 12.0 pulled in right behind the Linux distributions.

Under the Fhourstones Connect-4 solver, Windows was towards the back of the pack on this dual AMD EPYC server though right behind Clear Linux. FreeBSD 12.0 was in line with the other Linux distributions tested.

The SciMark2 benchmark tends to be heavily influenced by the compiler and its flags. In this case, Clear Linux shipping with aggressive CFLAGS by default led to it having the best performance out-of-the-box. All of the other Linux distributions tested had roughly similar performance that was also in line with FreeBSD 12.0 and Windows Server 2019.
