Intel Pentium G4600: A Surprising 3.6GHz Kabylake CPU For $90
Shifting over to the CPU-focused tests, the Pentium G4600 in the FFTW test was doing fairly well with this test preferring high-clock speeds over more cores, so the G4600 ends up running ahead of the E3-1235L and about 6% faster than the previous-generation G4400.
The Numpy results are a bit more interesting with this Kabylake CPU performing slightly better than the Core i7 4770K and Core i5 6500.
But with heavily multi-threaded tests like John The Ripper using OpenMP, the Pentium G4600 is no longer as appealing.
TTSIOD's renderer is also multi-threaded friendly where the Pentium G4600 with two physical cores plus Hyper Threading can't compete with the Core CPUs.
