Zenwalk 8.0 Linux Distribution Now In Beta
It's been a while since last having anything to report on with the Zenwalk Linux distribution originally derived from Slackware. However, I was pleasantly surprised to see this afternoon that Zenwalk 8.0 is now in beta.
The Zenwalk 8.0 release is switching to Chromium as its default browser, is using the latest Xfce desktop components, is powered by the Linux 4.4 LTS kernel, features updates to Bluetooth support, netpkg package manager improvements, and a wide variety of other improvements.
Zenwalk 8.0 is another release that prides itself on speed. Today's 8.0 beta announcement reads, "Zenwalk boots in a few seconds, provides 1 application per task, and considering that it features best of breed modern applications and desktop environment : it's very, very fast !!!! (it flies on my wife's and son's 10 years old 2GB AMD Athlon 64 , and of course it's even more spectacular on my AMD Phenom Black Edition hexacore 3.2GHz - 8GB RAM - 2TB SSD :p)."
