First up is the most basic OpenGL test case used and an old-time favorite: OpenArena ;)

With the very basic and CPU limited OpenArena test case, Ubuntu 16.04 with its proprietary NVIDIA Linux driver is noticeably faster than Windows 10 using all of the tested Maxwell GPUs. Enough said about OpenArena, on to more heavy lifting with the Unigine tests.

When running Unigine Heaven, the performance was now very close between Ubuntu 16.04 and Windows 10. With the higher-end GTX 980 Ti and GTX TITAN X graphics cards, Ubuntu 16.04 offered a few frames more than Windows.

With the less-demanding Unigine Tropics tests, Ubuntu 16.04 was consistently faster than Windows 10 -- particularly with the higher-end graphics cards.

Under Unigine's newest OpenGL test, Valley, the results sided with Windows 10 on every graphics card.
