AMD Phenom II X3 On Linux

AMD really was slugged hard by Intel when it came to the ray-tracing performance. With C-Ray, even the overclocked Phenom II X3 was absolutely no match for the Intel Core i7 -- it was still almost twice as slow as the Core i7 920!

At the industry-standard POV-Ray test, the Phenom II X3 was not as far behind the Core i7 as it was with C-Ray. However, only the 3.51GHz Heka was slightly faster than the Intel processor.

At multiple sequence alignment with MAFFT, the Intel Core i7 920 and Phenom II X3 710 were close when it came to the stock performance.
