Tyan Tiger i7520SD S5365

While in our testing for the article the Tyan Tiger i7520SD had failed to outperform the Intel and AMD desktop chips, the performance-per-watt was certainly phenomenal. Each Intel Xeon LV 2.00GHz dual-core processor has a TDP of a mere 31 Watts, which is in sharp contrast to Xeon Dempsey and other processors that have a much higher power consumption. When it comes to the Tyan Tiger i7520SD S5365 motherboard itself, it was an incredible package. The ATX motherboard is backed by the Intel E7520 Chipset, supports dual 479 sockets, and up to 16GB of RAM through eight DDR2 ECC slots. The motherboard also has the benefit of boasting triple network interfaces, Serial ATA 2.0, and ATI ES1000 integrated graphics. The motherboard also continued to boast terrific Linux compatibility and performance, and there were only small issues with GDM and LM_Sensors. While this motherboard is currently selling around $400 USD, it certainly is an excellent offering for those after the Xeon LV Sossaman processors for various workstation and server applications.
