For the Batman: Arkham Knight game running under Steam Play, there wasn't much change. The RX 6800 XT performance did come in ever so slightly lower than the Mesa 22.0 performance but unlikely to be noticeable to Linux gamers given the already high frame-rates for this aging game.

it was similar with Counter-Strike: Global Offensive on Vulkan that the RX 6800 XT performance came in slightly lower than the stock Ubuntu 22.04 Mesa performance while the RX 6700 XT performance was unchanged.

At this stage both the RadeonSI and RADV drivers have very mature support for the RDNA2 GPUs, so it's not too surprising seeing there not being much more left to optimize.

Ubuntu 22.04 users with Radeon RX 6000 series graphics cards don't necessarily need to move to newer Mesa versions unless hitting a newer game-specific bug or needing some newer specific Vulkan extension as the broad performance optimizations seem to be over for RDNA2 on the open-source code.
