I bet that if Shuttleworth announced that he will send a million dollars to every Linux user out there, they would rant how evil he is for excluding *BSD.
Mark just labelled everyone with objections to Mir (even though there's several valid ones, Ranomier in post #95 provided a nice rundown) a "hater". What did you expect would happen? This round is on Mark.

Sounds like former. There's UX designs available by googling "KDE convergence". It seems improbable they could pull it off though without heavy backing from corporate or private entities

Oh, but it really is dead.

Well I think they are mad because of Mark wasting everybody time with childish behavior like: If you don't obey our ideas we will make sure nobody uses either thing. A big F you community. It was going and is still going with stuff like snaps. This is only happening because Ubuntu has noticeable market share. Think about it.

And now instead of us see commercial software being packaged we have to wait another couple of years until Mark decides to pull the plug on snaps. Yeah, thanks Mark for free software, I guess.

            • The input devices performance is poor with Gnome on Wayland on older hardware like Ivy Bridge, Sandy Bridge. Mouse cursor and keyboard lags when machine is under load. Unusable on daily basis.

Yea why not merge all snaps, flatpack and appimage.
Was Red Hat rejecting Canonical input? Was that the reason for Mir?

As for some toxic comments: I guess they're from typical Linux users: Overweight, frustrated, single male. If not ranting in forums watching porn. Never buys any software.

The problem is Canonical. I have been actively using Linux since 1995, it means long time enough to understand how the Linux community works. I have always been staying outside the Ubuntu camp and I hadn't cared too much about what they did and their Ubuntu only products. The tipping point was the ridiculous way how they announced Mir and how they justified its existence - this was the most toxic thing I had seen. If one behaves like this, it is hard to expect a friendly face then.

This is a very specific problem of mutter and gnome shell on particular HW, not wayland issue.

                    • Technically, yes. But, Gnome/Mutter is the most popular software currently (and possibly the only DE) using Wayland and showing its capabilities. So I would say this is a Wayland problem unless there is another big DE replacement for Gnome/Mutter.
