At 1920 x 1080, Nexuiz was not playable when using the open-source Radeon Linux driver stack with its frame-rate at just around 15 FPS -- including when swap buffer waits was disabled and color tiling enabled. Meanwhile, the official Catalyst 11.8 driver was four times faster on the same hardware.

The open-source Warsow game was better when color tiling was enabled and swap buffer waits disabled, but still no competition for the Catalyst blob that was twice as fast for this Qfusion-powered OpenGL game.

For the ioquake3-based OpenArena game, the A8-3850 with its Radeon HD 6550D graphics was three times faster using the proprietary Catalyst driver.
