Ubuntu 24.04 Brings Some Performance Gains For AMD Threadripper 7980X / System76 Thelio Major

As the same GCC 13.2 compiler is in use as found on Ubuntu 23.10 and the AMD Zen 4 support already stable for a while in the kernel, for a number of the HPC/compute workloads there wasn't any major difference when switching to Ubuntu 24.04. But for those still using Ubuntu 22.04 LTS there is more to see with that upgrade due to the GCC 11 to GCC 13 transition and other updates over two years.

For some of the computer workloads there were some minor performance improvements to find with Ubuntu 24.04 on this AMD Ryzen Threadripper 7000 series workstation.
