AMD Kaveri: Catalyst vs. RadeonSI Gallium3D On Linux
The synthetic GpuTest results also indicate there's still a ways to go in the Radeon R7 Graphics performance with the open-source driver compared to Catalyst, but significant progress is being made with their Radeon DRM kernel driver, the RadeonSI Gallium3D driver, and the AMD GPU LLVM back-end.
Some GpuTest scenarios also don't work yet on RadeonSI Gallium3D due to missing GL/GLSL support from Mesa, which is still being worked on. We should see OpenGL 4.0~4.2 support this year for AMD Gallium3D, but it will still take much longer for OpenGL 4.3~4.5 compliance. OpenCL also remains a work-in-progress.
