Did you tried this dhewm3 one now on Debian? It seems ogg segafault in timedemo run.

edit: And is cames down to do vorbis missbehave, hmm... actually vorbisfile, it might be distro bug... something is screwed in libvorbisfile3, no debian patches it works

edit: OK it seems fixed in 1.3.4-3 couple weeks ago, at least we know 1.3.4-2 on current ubuntu will segfault with this game and jessie too
    See this request: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...s/+bug/1504449

Coincidentally I already opened a request for 1.3.5 on debian also : https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugr...cgi?bug=798960

Nah, the easiest way is use this 3rd party repository https://github.com/alepulver/dhewm3

Check my scratchpad for more info https://docs.google.com/document/d/1...it?usp=sharing (I wrote an article about Doom 3 improvements a few years ago, but iit s down for a while...)

Cool and now somebody to fill it for jessie and SteamOS they have it borked too

I had also openal 1.15 sound crackling, 1.14 OK and 1.16 OK... jessie is probably worse when it comes to sound libs.

Ah OK cool if someone done it already .

Compiles, timedemo works, but somehow fail to start a game all under sikkmod... well does not matter just been a little curious to try that material.

I did a video of what it looks like on my machine, 1080p, ultra settings, no AA, 7970 with RadeonSI driver :

Doom3 using dhewm3 on Arch Linux using the RadeonSI open source driver.PC Specs : i5 7507970 1Ghz edition8GB RAMOpen source implementation/improvement of the...

Mostly it hovers at around 30-35 fps.

From what I can tell, IODoom3 is still using the original ARB shaders and has removed shadows. What really needs to happen is to replace all of the ARB stuff with GLSL, and implement shadowmapping. I believe there is already another Doom3 project that does this, by MH, I *think*. Would be nice to see IODoom3 adopt these changes, they are surely made public by now. Regardless, an Open Source Doom project would be pretty cool.

I have better fps on single channel Kabini APU, same settings . But with Catalyst using optimization from original doom3 (rename 'dhewm3' binary to 'doom.x86' to get it)

Better try rbdoom3-bfg, it does not have these perf issues with radeonsi driver
