There is proprietary software such as Chrome and Steam running on just about every desktop distro.

Google/Alphabet have man-hour for that, use customized linux for their products. As for Valve, well, they try to search for alternatives than have to pay 15-30% taxes to microsoft stores, Appstore, or Playstore.

To record something sensible in Betamax, you had to use the Long Play mode, which had worse quality than SP in VHS.

6 years later, and it was dragged into it kicking and screaming because of Secure Boot requirements.

Proves nothing regarding windows being generally more secure. Nobody in this discussion has provided any proof for that yet. All you are writing about is your personal experience and certain OS features while the matter should be analysed in statistical manner.

Linux marketshare in a proper western country, where people have enough money to buy games at their actual full price you know, is a lot higher than 2%. So get rekt.

PS: if you talk about regional pricing then nobody cares because ultimately the dev will get a far smaller profit out of it.
