Brings back old memories; telnet hotmail.com and so forth.
That's how we did e-mail on the world wide web.

Is there a way to display line numbers in nano but without the ability to select them with the mouse so that when I copy a few lines it does not include those?
It's highly annoying, and because of that, I'm sure I'm doing it wrong.

Not really. Terminal emulators are text oriented.

See if yours supports block selection mode; so instead of selecting stuff in a flowing text manner, you select a 2D box, grabbing from the first column after the line numbers to the last column before the scroll bar.

Oh yeah that would work as well, thank you!

Nano is unusable. Too confusing and complicated. I'll stick with vim thanks.

Heh, I managed to compile pico and get it kind of running on an Amiga in about 1989 as my middle finger gesture to Memacs at the time. I was very pleased to see it turn into nano and happier still to see it continue to be supported. For a while there in the late nineties I though vi/vim would kill it off but now it's probably the premier novice editor for linux. Cool. By far and away my favorite console editor for the last 10+ years is alias e='nano -t -x -c'
